Sad Cycle at Eastern Expansion

Sad Cycle includes works that are inspired by death rituals. The exhibition is part of a larger series that seeks to examine ways in which people grieve through a lens of palpably dramatic forms and performance. The pieces shown at Eastern Expansion were created in the past three months and reflect an intimate focus on material and a process-driven sculptural practice.

Printervention in Nashville

Printervention ( a traveling exhibition I co-organized and curated with Chris Roberson & Ed Marszewski ) will be shown in Nashville in the coming weeks thanks to artist and friend Jes Owings. The show features social and political posters created specifically for the project and draws inspiration from the Works Progress Administration of the 1930’s when artists actually got paid by the government.

Printervention

I have been working long and hard with Chris and our buddy Ed Marszewski putting together a poster initiative this spring.

Harold Arts Resident Show

This summer I had the opportunity to spend a week in rural Ohio at the Harold Arts Residency.
To showcase the artist and work made throughout the summer Heaven Gallery and Johalla Projects hosted an exhibition this October.

From Johalla’s website

On Friday, October 23, 2009, Johalla Projects hosted “The Yield: Harold Arts 2009 Resident Exhibition” along with Heaven Gallery at 1550 North Milwaukee Avenue.  Each summer, the Harold Arts Residency Program invites emerging and established artists and musicians to stay at the Jeffers Tree Farm in rural Ohio and produce new works.  The Yield was a part of the week-long event Harvest 2009, which featured musical performances and exhibitions around Chicago and the release of the Harold Arts annual compilation album.  Participating artists shown at Johalla Projects were:

Brandon Alvendia, Zak Arctander, Caitlin Arnold, Michael Boles, Emily Clayton, Kyle Cronan, Elliot Eggler, Allison Grant, Aaron Harris, Kate Jenkins, Stacie Johnson, Katy Keefe, Kevin Malella, Aliza Morell, Michael Morris, Aay Preston-Myint, Renee Staeck
