Emily Clayton lives and works in New York. She uses the formal immediacy of painting and drawing and the intimacy of autobiography to consider class structures, the role of power in the erotic, and formations of subjectivity. She studied at New York University where she received an MFA in 2015 and University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she received a BFA in 2004. Her recent exhibitions include a forthcoming solo show (2023) at Smack Mellon, New York, NY; Ciccio, New York, NY; Love, New York, NY; Kate Werble, New York, NY; Susan Inglett, New York, NY; and Fiebach, Minninger, Cologne, Germany. In 2018 she published a drawing book, How to Write an Erotic Novel, with A6 Books in London.
